Sometimes life throws you a curve-ball
|
and it’s your choice to swing at it or let it pass you by. Well, that’s what this whole Covid19 quarantine has felt like for us. We have our September 16 departure date set and a Launch Sequence list of things to get done before then, but sometimes God asks you to trust him in unique ways.
|
|
Our April, like many of you, started out with a “Stay at Home” order in the State of Minnesota as mandated by our Governor, and it ended that way as well. We’ve been anything but bored, and unlike what we hoped, our time hasn’t been spent on the seemingly never-ending list of bus projects.
|
|
|
About 6 weeks ago through a really (seemingly?) random, totally God inspired way, we connected with Midcurrent Church, a young church plant just across the border in Wisconsin. After hearing that we have done YouTube videos, Pastor Sten contacted us, as he was scrambling, trying to find a way to move their services online. The YMCA that(where?) they were meeting in had just notified them they were no longer allowed to meet until the “Stay at Home” order was over. Long story short, we hadn’t planned on doing any side video work, but felt like God was “nudging” us to help Midcurrent out. We’re really glad we did! It has been such a blessing getting to know them, their heart for reaching people, and seeing what God is doing through them to impact their community! Each Thursday we meet up to film their church services, then spend all day Friday, and half of Saturday, editing and uploading their service. Yes, it takes a bit of time, but the friendships that have been made and seeing God at work are worth it!

Another “unplanned” but God inspired connection:
For the past 8 years, Lia has been doing website support/development for Joy Christian Center in St Cloud Minnesota. A few weeks ago, through a seemingly random comment Pastor Brian made to Lia regarding their online church worship was sounding a little hollow, Lia informed him that “JD has a fancy degree in audio production" (and music business). He ended up calling me the next day, and what started out as a passing comment about audio quality has turned into me mixing and editing their worship videos for their Sunday services! We’ve also been able to help them with some other online video aspects and just this past week were able to help them transition to a new online platform where they can interact with their church congregation in a better way!

Just like how God orchestrated us connecting with Midcurrent Church, we’ve been so blessed to be able to help out Joy Church and see God at work in their community through them. Yes, it takes another 2 days a week of our time, but we’re seeing His hand at work through all of this and even more friendships are growing!

The last “curve-ball” God has thrown our way this past month:
Our involvement in our home church, Substance Church has expanded. As a response to the Covid19 quarantine, Substance launched a new online small group initiative called “micro-campuses”. We felt like God was again “nudging” us to step up and help lead one of the new online video campuses, even though it didn’t seemingly fit into our Launch Sequence plans for our September departure. We did anyways, and let me tell you, I’m glad we did! Even though our micro-campus is only 5 weeks old now, we’ve already grown to the point of needing to break off into another micro-campus!
With the “Shelter In Place” order I couldn’t have imagined the month would have looked how it has, but we are excited what God is doing in our lives and across the globe, and that we’ve stepped out to be a part of it!

WHAT WE'VE ACCOMPLISHED
|
While we haven’t accomplished a single item on our bus departure to-do list, we have achieved a few “sub-task” items.
|
|
|
⚓ Installed a nautical rope fence along the shore line. This is not an end all fence for the kids, but more of a deterrent so we can be outside working on bus projects while the boys play in the yard. This fence will help, so we don't have to be "right there" watching like a hawk whenever we are outside. We take water safety very seriously around here!
|
|
☑️ Cleaned and installed a fence on the side of our house for a fun fully contained outdoor play area.
|
☑️ JD did work a little bit on the wood stove installation, specifically the heat shield.
|
☑️ Purchased Unistrut (amazing craigslist deal) for mounting the solar panels on roof.
|
|
|
|
|
|
