We are a little over a month away from our launch date, September 16th, and right now things are looking a little discouraging. The list of things to get done on the bus before we head out seems to be growing rather than getting any shorter. The last several weeks have been spent on bigger projects, that still aren’t done and by just looking at the list, not much progress is being made. Things are still moving good on the boys "bombay" (bottom bay) bedroom, but there was more rust on the frame then I first thought. I’ve spent several days cutting out and welding in new steel to make sure things are solid. Lia is still working on the carpet squares but can’t quite finish the project since I’ve had the floor ripped out to access the control tunnel that runs down the middle of the bus while I finish the work in the bays. Projects just haven’t seemed to go according to plan.

A couple weeks ago Lia and I sat down, prayed and went through our list of projects to sort them out. We highlighted the things that absolutely needed to get done, made a list of things that really should get done, and then made a list of things that “can wait” until later. In going through all the projects were able to shrink the To-Do list a little, but our hearts sank when we realized how impossible it is going to be to get these things done in time for us to leave. We really feel that God has lead us to the departure date of September 16th, and we want to do everything in our power to make that date happen, but right now we don’t really see how it’s possible.

After sitting in our discouragement for a little while, Lia and I realized that we were looking at our list, and filtering it through the perspective of what WE could get done. We had mistakenly removed God from our thinking! In our own strength we know that there is more then we can handle, but we serve a God who isn’t limited by “impossible.” We’ve read over and over in the Bible of ordinary people who take steps of faith, and trust God for impossible situations, and Supernatural things happen! We’ve experienced this even in our own lives over the years and in different situations, so why couldn’t that happen for us again?!

For the projects on the bus that still need to get done, for the people we are going to be ministering to, and for direction in where we should go once we head out.

We know that we can’t do this alone, we don’t have the strength to complete what we feel called to do. But when we surrender to God and humbly submit ourselves before Him, he hears our prayers and answers (James 4:7-10).

We spent one day a week resting & playing

Each week we spend our Sunday's resting from work, enjoying family time on the lake and getting together with our friends. It's a much needed break!
